Temporary Charles River Dam is completed.

October 20, 1908

Architect: Lowell, Guy. Construction began in 1905. Built by the state, it contains 84 timber gates and transforms the tidal estuary with wide mud flats at low tide with the body of water we know today. It is replaced by a permanent dam in 1910.*
